Lake Angelus is a small city in Oakland County, Michigan, in the United States. It's a wealthy northern suburb of Detroit, located about 35 kilometers (22 miles) north of downtown Detroit.
With only 287 people as of the 2020 census, Lake Angelus is the second-smallest city in Michigan. It is known for having one of the highest average incomes per person in the state.

History of Lake Angelus
In the early 1900s, a small group of homes grew around a lake. This lake was first called Three Mile Lake.
How Lake Angelus Got Its Name
During the 1920s, a woman named Mrs. Sollace B. Collidge renamed the lake to Lake Angelus. The old name, Three Mile Lake, referred to the distance across the lake.
Becoming a City
Nearby towns wanted to take over Lake Angelus. However, in 1929, a special state law was passed. This law allowed Lake Angelus to become its own village. Later, in 1984, Lake Angelus officially became a city.

The city covers a total area of about 4.22 square kilometers (1.63 square miles). A significant part of this area, about 34.36%, is water. The land area is about 2.77 square kilometers (1.07 square miles).

Lake Angelus shares its borders with several other communities:
- To the north and east, it borders the city of Auburn Hills.
- To the south, it borders the city of Pontiac.
- To the west, it borders Waterford Township.
