Lake Arrowhead is a special community located in York County, Maine, in the United States. It's known as a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a specific area that the government counts for population, but it's not an officially incorporated town.
The community is built around an artificial lake also called Lake Arrowhead. This lake was created on the Little Ossipee River. The area is part of the larger Portland metropolitan area.

Where is Lake Arrowhead?
Lake Arrowhead is found in the towns of Waterboro and Limerick. It covers about 6.4 square miles (16.5 square kilometers). A good portion of this area, about 1.2 square miles (3.0 square kilometers), is water. The rest is land.

The 2012 Earthquake
On October 16, 2012, something unusual happened in Lake Arrowhead. An earthquake with a strength of 4.0 on the moment magnitude scale shook the area. It happened around 7:12 PM.
People felt the earthquake strongly in Lake Arrowhead. It was also felt in many other parts of eastern New England. Some people even felt it as far away as Long Island, New York!
