Lake Britton is a beautiful reservoir (which is a human-made lake) located in Shasta County, California. It's a popular spot for fishing because it has many different kinds of bass and trout.

This lake is mostly surrounded by natural areas like McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, as well as land managed by PG&E and the Forest Service.

Discover Lake Britton

Lake Britton gets its water from the Pit River and other smaller streams like Clark Creek, Burney Creek, and Hat Creek. The water is held back by a structure called the Pit #3 Dam.

Where is Lake Britton?

The main part of Lake Britton is located to the west of State Route 89. If you visit the north side of the lake, you'll find two campgrounds: North Shore and Dusty Campgrounds. These are great places to stay if you want to explore the area!

A Famous Bridge

One of the most interesting things about Lake Britton is a special bridge that crosses over it. This bridge is now part of the Great Shasta Rail Trail, which is a path for walking and biking.

This very bridge was used in a famous movie! It was featured in the 1986 film Stand By Me, where it was the railroad bridge scene. It's cool to think that a place you can visit was once part of a movie set!
