Lake Michigan Beach is a community in Berrien County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is not an official city or town. Instead, it is a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is an area grouped together for counting people in the 2020 census. In 2020, about 1,101 people lived there.
The community is located in Hagar Township. It sits right on the shore of Lake Michigan. Some people also call this area Hagar Shores.
History of Lake Michigan Beach
Lake Michigan Beach was started in 1922. At first, it was mostly a place where people went for summer vacations. Over time, it grew into a community with many people living there all year round.
The name "Hagar Shores" became popular in 1958. This happened because the post office did not accept the name "Lake Michigan Beach" for mail services.
Geography and Location
Lake Michigan Beach is located right next to Lake Michigan. This makes it a great spot for enjoying the water and beaches.
