Lake Micmac is a freshwater lake located in the Halifax Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia, Canada. It's a popular spot for outdoor fun.

This lake is entirely within the community of Dartmouth. People sometimes call it 'Second Lake' because of its place in the Shubenacadie Canal system.

Where is Lake Micmac?

Lake Micmac is surrounded by roads on three sides. Waverly Road is on its eastern side. Highway 118 runs along its western shore. Highway 111 is on its southern side. A bridge on Highway 111 separates Lake Micmac from Lake Banook.

The northern part of Lake Micmac is home to Shubie Park. This is a large park in the city. There is also a private beach on the northeastern end. People informally call it 'Mossman's Beach'.

Fun Activities at the Lake

Lake Micmac is a great place for water sports and boating. You can launch your boat from Red Bridge Pond. Many people enjoy spending time on the water here.

History and Name

Lake Micmac gets its name from the Mi'kmaq Nation. The Mi'kmaq people used the Shubenacadie Canal route for travel long ago. This was before European settlers arrived in the area.

Archaeologists have found old sites in Shubie Park. These sites show that people lived there before colonial times. Many items found are now on display at the park's Fairbanks Centre. This helps us learn about the history of the area.
