The community of Lake Nacimiento is found right by the Lake Nacimiento reservoir. This area is nestled within the Santa Lucia Mountains. A reservoir is like a large, artificial lake used to store water.
The total area of this community is about 10.3 square miles (26.6 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water. People often call the lake "Dragon Lake" because its unique shape looks like a dragon!

The 2010 United States Census counted 2,411 people living in Lake Nacimiento. Most of the people were White (89.3%). There were also smaller groups of African American, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander residents. About 10.6% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
