Lake Vermillion is a cool artificial lake located in McCook County, South Dakota. It's about six miles east of Canistota and eight miles south of Montrose. An artificial lake is a lake that people made by building a dam. Lake Vermillion was created by building a dam on the East Fork of the Vermillion River. This lake is part of a special area called the South Dakota Recreation Area, which means it's a great spot for outdoor fun!
