History of Montrose
Montrose was first planned out in 1880. People have different ideas about where its name came from. Some think it was named after a book called A Legend of Montrose by Sir Walter Scott. Others believe the name combines "mountain" and "rose," referring to features near the original town. A post office has been in Montrose since it was founded in 1880.

Porter Sculpture Park
