Lake View is a small city located in Phillips County, Arkansas, United States. In 2020, about 327 people lived there. It's important to know that there is also a place called Lakeview in Baxter County, Arkansas, so don't get them mixed up!

Lake View has a unique history. It was originally known as "Turkey Scratch" starting in the 1850s. The name officially changed to Lake View in the 1920s. When the town was re-established in 1937, Lake View became one of only three communities in Arkansas set aside for Black farm families by a government program called the Resettlement Administration. Because of this history, Lake View is one of the few places in the U.S. where over 90 percent of the people are African American.

Education in Lake View

Students in Lake View attend schools run by the Barton–Lexa School District. This district provides education from pre-kindergarten all the way through 12th grade. Over 800 students attend its two schools.

Students finish their high school education at Barton High School. Before 2004, Lake View had its own school district, which included Lake View Elementary School and C. V. White High School. However, on July 1, 2004, this district joined with the Barton-Lexa School District.
