Lamar is a city located in Johnson County, Arkansas, in the United States. In 2010, about 1,605 people lived there. This was more than the 1,415 people who lived there in 2000. By 2020, the population had grown to 1,719 residents.

Lamar is found in the southeastern part of Johnson County. It sits in the valley of Cabin Creek. U.S. Route 64 is the main road in Lamar. It goes northwest about 5 miles (8 km) to Clarksville, which is the main town of the county. It also goes south about 4 miles (6 km) to Knoxville.
Interstate 40 crosses U.S. Route 64 about 2 miles (3 km) south of Lamar. From here, you can travel west about 64 miles (103 km) to Fort Smith. Or, you can go southeast about 19 miles (31 km) to Russellville. The capital city, Little Rock, is about 95 miles (153 km) southeast of Lamar via I-40.
The United States Census Bureau says Lamar covers a total area of about 4.7 square miles (12.3 square kilometers). Only a very small part of this area, about 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometers), is water.
