Career

Early Life and College Soccer

Lamar Neagle grew up in Washington state. He went to Thomas Jefferson High School. There, he was a key player on the soccer team for three years. In his senior year, he helped his team win the State 4A championship. He even set a school record by scoring six goals in one game!

As a young player, Lamar also played for a soccer club called Norpoint Chivas. This club was located in Northeast Tacoma.

After high school, Lamar played college soccer at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV). He was a very consistent player, missing only one game in his four years there. Lamar was a top scorer for his team, leading them in goals during his last two seasons. He scored 9 goals each year.

While in college, he also played for the Des Moines Menace. This team was part of the USL Premier Development League. He played 24 games for them and scored six goals.

Playing for Seattle Sounders FC

Lamar Neagle first tried out for the Seattle Sounders FC in 2009. He impressed the coaches during his trial period. On June 10, 2009, the Sounders officially signed him.

The team's coach, Sigi Schmid, was happy to sign a local player. He noted that Lamar had "excellent speed" and could play in different positions. Lamar was the fourth player from Washington state to join the Sounders.

Lamar first appeared on the Sounders' roster for a big game against the Portland Timbers. He also sat on the bench for games against the Houston Dynamo and Kansas City Wizards. His first unofficial game was a friendly match against the famous English team, Chelsea, on July 18, 2009. Lamar found it "surreal" to play against players he had watched growing up.

Even though he trained with the team, Lamar did not play in any official first-team games for the Sounders in 2009. He was released by the team on November 25, 2009.

Other Teams and Returns

After leaving Seattle, Lamar signed with the Charleston Battery in 2010. He made his professional debut with them on April 17, 2010. He had a great season, scoring 12 goals in 19 games. He was even named the USL Second Division Most Valuable Player that year!

Later in 2010, Lamar moved to Finland to play for IFK Mariehamn. He played five games and scored two goals there.

In 2012, Lamar was traded to the Montreal Impact. He scored his first goal for Montreal against his old team, the Sounders. He also scored a fantastic goal against the San Jose Earthquakes, which won the "Goal of the Week" award.
