The Lamborghini 350 GT is a cool sports car that was made by the company Lamborghini. It was produced from 1964 to 1966. This car is very special because it was the very first road car that Lamborghini ever built! It was based on an earlier test car called the Lamborghini 350GTV prototype. Both of these cars used a powerful 3.5-liter V12 engine.
After the 350 GT, Lamborghini made an updated version called the Lamborghini 400 GT.

How the Lamborghini 350 GT Was Born
In May 1963, a smart engineer named Giotto Bizzarrini, who was in charge of engineering at Lamborghini, left the company. The very next month, the owner, Ferruccio Lamborghini, asked another engineer, Gian Paolo Dallara, to create a car for the road based on Bizzarrini's 350GTV prototype. Dallara got help from engineer Paolo Stanzani and a test driver named Bob Wallace.
Dallara and Stanzani quickly realized that the 350 GTV prototype wasn't really built for making lots of cars. So, they decided to design the 350 GT as a proper road car. First, they made changes to the original Bizzarrini engine to make it better for everyday driving. They also redesigned the car's frame (chassis) for street use. They worked hard to get the 350 GTV prototype ready to show off at the Turin Auto Show in October 1963. Lamborghini hoped that showing the prototype would get people excited about the new 350 GT. The Lamborghini 350 GT was officially released in 1964, becoming Lamborghini's first car for regular roads.
Engine and How It Moves
The 350 GT had a strong 3.5 L (3,464 cc) V12 engine. A V12 engine means it has 12 cylinders arranged in a "V" shape, which makes it very powerful. Each engine was tested for 24 hours on a special machine called a Schenk Walge dynamometer. This machine helps measure how much power an engine makes. For the first 12 hours, the engine was run using electric power. Then, it was run with gasoline, slowly increasing its speed.
These tests showed that the engine could produce 280 bhp (284 PS; 209 kW) of power at 6500 rpm. RPM stands for "revolutions per minute," which tells you how fast the engine's parts are spinning. It also produced 325 N⋅m (240 lbf⋅ft) of torque at 4500 rpm. Torque is the twisting force that makes the car move.
The engine was connected to a five-speed manual transmission. This part of the car helps change gears, letting the driver control the car's speed. This transmission was made by a company called ZF.
How Fast Could It Go?
The 350 GT weighed about 1,450 kilograms (3,197 lb). With its powerful V12 engine, it could go from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour (0.0 to 62.1 mph) (about 62 miles per hour) in just 6.8 seconds! It could also reach a top speed of 254 kilometres per hour (158 mph) (about 158 miles per hour). That's pretty fast for a car from the 1960s!
Lamborghini 350 GTS: The Convertible Version
The Lamborghini 350 GTS was a special version of the 350 GT. It was a convertible car, which means it had a roof that could open up or be folded down. This allowed people to enjoy driving with the wind in their hair! The 350 GTS was first shown at the 1965 Turin Auto Show. Only two of these convertible cars were built by Carrozzeria Touring in 1965. When the soft roof was folded down, it was designed to be hidden away in a storage area behind the two seats.
