Lamman Rucker (born October 6, 1971) is an American actor. He is known for his roles in TV shows and movies.

Lamman started his acting career on popular daytime soap operas. These include As the World Turns and All My Children. Later, he appeared in the miniseries The Temptations. He also starred in Tyler Perry's movies Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too?.

He played Will Brown in the 2008 movie Meet the Browns. He then continued this role in the TV show Meet the Browns. From 2016, he played Jacob Greenleaf in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Greenleaf. He currently stars in the BET+ drama series The Black Hamptons.

Lamman Rucker's Early Life

Lamman Rucker was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents are Malaya and Eric Rucker. He also has some family roots from Barbados. Lamman grew up in the area around Washington, D.C. and Maryland.

He became interested in acting when he was a child. He took part in several child pageants. His very first acting role was playing Martin Luther King in fourth grade. He joined the drama club in seventh grade. He went to high school at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. After high school, Lamman studied at Carnegie-Mellon University and Duquesne University.

Lamman Rucker's Acting Career

Lamman Rucker has appeared in many short films and TV movies. His first big acting job was in 2002. He played a lawyer named T. Marshall Travers on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns. He worked alongside actress Tamara Tunie.

He left that show the next year. In 2005, he played Garret Williams on the ABC soap opera All My Children. Around this time, he also had regular roles on the UPN TV shows All of Us and Half & Half.

Rucker is well known for his roles in movies by Tyler Perry. He co-starred in Why Did I Get Married? in 2007. He also appeared in its sequel, Why Did I Get Married Too?, in 2010.

In 2008, he played Will Brown in Perry's movie Meet The Browns. He later became a main actor in the TV series of the same name. He played Will Brown again from 2009 to 2011.

In 2012, Rucker was chosen for a main role in the NBC comedy series Save Me. He was going to star with Anne Heche. However, he left the show after the first episode was filmed. Later, he starred with Mena Suvari in the WE tv drama series South of Hell. This show was on for a short time.

In 2015, Lamman Rucker got a main role in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Greenleaf. For five seasons, he played Jacob Greenleaf. Jacob was the only son of Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) and First Lady Daisy Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield).

In 2019, he shared his life experiences with the Hampton University football team. He talked about how these experiences helped him succeed.
