Lampros Choutos, born on December 7, 1979, is a former professional football player from Greece. He was a striker, which means he played in the front of the team to score goals. During his career, he played for teams in both Greece and Italy.

Playing for Clubs

Starting Out

Lampros Choutos was born in Athens, Greece. He began playing football with a team called Asteras Polygonou. Scouts from a bigger club, Panathinaikos FC, noticed his talent. After just two years, he moved to Italy to continue learning and growing as a football player with AS Roma.

Professional Career

Choutos' first professional team was Olympiacos F.C. in Greece. He was loaned there by Roma. He had played very well for the Greek Under-21 team, scoring 15 goals in just ten matches.

At Olympiacos, he slowly became a key player. He formed a strong attacking team with Slovenia's Zlatko Zahovič and Giovanni from Brazil. Even with a knee injury, Choutos scored important goals. He helped Olympiacos win the Greek Superleague championships in 2000, 2001, and 2003.

After his time at Olympiacos, Choutos returned to Italy to play for Inter Milan in 2004. He signed a three-year contract. However, he found it hard to settle there. He was often loaned to other teams, like RCD Mallorca in Spain. He made his first game for Inter Milan in November 2006. This was more than two years after he first joined the club. He left Inter Milan at the end of the 2006–07 season.

Choutos went back to Greece in 2007 and joined Panionios FC. He started playing regularly again. He famously scored two goals against AEK Athens F.C. at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. He was named the Man of the match for that game. He finished that half-season with 12 goals. His team finished sixth and played in the next stage of the league.

He started his second year at Panionios well, scoring two goals in a UEFA Intertoto Cup match. However, he had a disagreement with the team's assistant coach. This led to him leaving the club.

In February 2009, Choutos signed a six-month contract with PAOK FC. He played in eight matches but did not score any goals. In August, he returned to Italy again. He joined a smaller team called A.S. Pescina Valle del Giovenco. His contract was ended in July 2010. This happened because the club had financial problems and was removed from the Italian football league system.

Playing for His Country

Because of his strong performances for the Greek Under-21 team, Choutos soon played for the main Greek national team. He played ten games for Greece over four years. He was not chosen for the teams that played in the UEFA Euro tournaments in 2004 and 2008.

Personal Life

Choutos comes from a village called Agioi Thedoroi, in the Trikala area of Greece.
