The Lane River is a small river, about 8.5 miles (13.7 kilometers) long, located in central New Hampshire, United States. It's a part of a larger water system. The Lane River flows into the Warner River, which then joins the Contoocook River. Eventually, all this water makes its way to the Merrimack River. This whole network of rivers and streams is called a watershed.

Where Does the Lane River Start and End?
The Lane River begins its journey at the end of Kezar Lake. This lake is found in a village called North Sutton. From there, the river starts flowing south.
The River's Journey Through Wetlands
As the Lane River leaves Kezar Lake, it flows through a wide, flat area. This area is a wetland, which is a special type of land that is often covered with water. Another small stream from Gile Pond also joins the Lane River here.
A Sudden Drop and Flowing On
After moving through the wetlands, the river suddenly drops about 140 feet (43 meters) in a short distance. This steep drop happens over only 0.3 miles (0.5 kilometers)! After this exciting part, the river enters the village of Sutton.
The Lane River then continues flowing southeast. It passes through more wetlands and goes by the village of South Sutton. As it gets closer to its end, the river flows faster. Finally, it meets the Warner River right at the border between the towns of Sutton and Warner.
