Larches is a neighborhood in Preston, a city in England. It's located in the north-west part of Preston. This area has a mix of homes, including those built by the local council and private houses. Ashton Park is a large green space right in the middle of Larches. The area borders Riversway and the nearby village of Lea.

Larches is part of a larger area called Ashton-on-Ribble. Long ago, Ashton-on-Ribble was part of a historical division called Amounderness. Today, Larches has small businesses and shops. Many families live here, and most adults travel to work in other parts of the city. There are also many retired people living in the area.

Getting Around Larches

The local bus company, Preston Bus, has routes that go through Larches. This makes it easy for people to travel around the neighborhood and to other parts of Preston. Another bus company, Stagecoach, also has routes that connect Preston to Blackpool, and these buses also serve the Larches area.

Local Government in Larches

Larches is part of the Preston City Council area. People in Larches vote for three local councillors to represent them on the city council. These councillors are elected each year. They help make decisions about local services and issues in the community.

Larches, along with the nearby area of Ashton, is also part of a larger voting area for the Lancashire County Council. This council manages bigger services for the whole county, like schools and roads.

Where is Larches?

Larches is in the north-west part of Preston. A main road called the A5085 Blackpool Road goes through the area, dividing it into two main parts: Larches and Savick. The southern part of Larches is close to the A583 Riversway by-pass.

The homes in Larches are mostly detached (stand-alone) and semi-detached (two homes joined together) houses. Many of these were built after World War II. They are spread out along medium-sized roads and avenues. There's also a specific housing area called the Preesall estate, which is located in the north, near the boundary with Lea.
