Larry Johnson (born November 19, 1979) is a former American football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Penn State.
Johnson spent most of his professional career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He became a very important player for the team. He had two amazing seasons in 2005 and 2006. During these years, he ran for more than 1,000 yards each season. This is a big goal for many football players.

Larry Johnson was born in Pomfret, Maryland. He grew up loving football. He played for State College Area High School in Pennsylvania. After high school, he went to Penn State for college.
College Football Success
At Penn State, Larry Johnson became a star player. He was known for his strong running. In 2002, his senior year, he won several major awards. These included the Doak Walker Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Walter Camp Award. These awards recognize the best players in college football. He was also named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Senior Bowl in 2003.
NFL Career with the Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs picked Larry Johnson in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He was the 27th player chosen overall. He joined the team and quickly showed his talent. He took over as the main running back for the Chiefs.
Johnson had his best seasons in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, he led the AFC in rushing yards. He was named the Chiefs' MVP that year. In 2006, he set an NFL record for the most rushing attempts in a single season with 416 carries. He was chosen for the Pro Bowl twice, in 2005 and 2006. He was also named an All-Pro player in both of those years.
In 2009, after some disagreements, Johnson left the Chiefs. He finished that season playing for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Later NFL Teams
After his time with the Bengals, Larry Johnson played for a few other teams. He spent parts of offseasons with the Washington Redskins in 2010. He also joined the Miami Dolphins in 2011. However, he did not stay with either team for a full season. He ended his NFL career as a free agent.
