Las Moras Creek is a stream in Texas, flowing through Kinney and Maverick Counties. It starts at the northern base of Las Moras Mountain. This is about five miles northeast of Brackettville in Kinney County. You can find its source at 29°22′25″N 100°23′09″W / 29.37361°N 100.38583°W / 29.37361; -100.38583.

The creek flows for about forty miles. It moves south-southwest, passing through Las Moras Springs near Brackettville. Finally, it joins the Rio Grande river. This meeting point is five miles northwest of Quemado in Maverick County.

Las Moras Creek has played an important role in the history of Texas.

Early Travel Routes

A long time ago, a major travel route called the San Antonio–El Paso Road crossed Las Moras Creek. This crossing point was at Las Moras Springs. This road was very important for people traveling between San Antonio and El Paso.

Fort Clark and Brackettville

To protect travelers on the road, Fort Clark was built right by Las Moras Springs. Soldiers at the fort helped keep the area safe. Later, the town of Brackettville was founded. It grew just north of Fort Clark, right along the creek.
