Laura Bay is a special place in South Australia, located on the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula. It looks out over the huge Great Australian Bight. This area is about 533 kilometres (331 miles) north-west of Adelaide city centre. It's also about 19 kilometres (12 miles) south-east of the town of Ceduna.

History of Laura Bay

The inlet known as Laura Bay was once a busy port. From at least 1894 until about 1937, it was used to ship grain. Farmers from the nearby inland areas would bring their crops here.

Port and School Days

A jetty, which is a long pier for boats, was built in 1911. It was used for loading and unloading ships until it was taken down in 1937. There was also a school in Laura Bay. It operated from 1927 to 1937, helping educate the children of the local farming families.

As of 2012, the land in Laura Bay is used for two main purposes:
