History of LeRoy
LeRoy was started in 1855. It was named after a city in Le Roy, Illinois. The first post office in LeRoy opened in 1856.
During the American Civil War, LeRoy had a military base from 1861 to 1864. This base helped protect the area from attacks during the war. In 1862, a special group of soldiers called the 1st Regiment, Indian Home Guard, was formed in LeRoy.

Before this change, LeRoy had its own high school. Its mascot was the LeRoy Bluejays.
