Le Pub, also known as Le Public Space, is a cool bar, restaurant, and music spot in Newport, South Wales. It first opened its doors in 1992 on Cadoxton Place. It quickly became a popular place for live music, joining other famous venues in the Newport music scene like TJ's. Later, Le Pub moved to High Street and became a co-operative, meaning it's owned and run by its members.

Discover Le Pub: Newport's Music Hub
Le Pub has been a key part of Newport's music scene for over 25 years. For a long time, another famous venue called TJ's was even more well-known. TJ's attracted huge names like David Bowie and Kurt Cobain, making Newport a big music city in the 1980s and 1990s.
Le Pub's Musical Journey: A Look Back
Newport had a very lively music scene in the 1980s and 1990s. However, as local industries changed, and the nearby Cardiff music scene grew, Newport's music venues faced challenges. TJ's closed in 2010, but it later reopened as El Siecco's on High Street.
Le Pub also went through tough times in the 2000s. It stayed at its original home on Caxton Place for almost 25 years. But eventually, it had to sell that building and find a new place to continue its journey.
Le Pub Today: A Creative Community Space
With help from Newport City Council, Le Pub found a way to restart. It became a community interest company. This means it's a business that works for the good of the community. People who loved the old venue could buy shares, which helped raise money to fix up the new building and reopen.
What You Can Find at Le Pub
Le Pub moved to High Street on July 29, 2017. It took over the spot where an old pub called The Page used to be. Many volunteers helped to get the new place ready. Now, Le Pub offers much more than just music. It has spaces for creative projects, an art gallery, rooms for bands to practice, office spaces, and even a small cinema. It has now been operating in Newport city centre for over 26 years!
Le Pub is open until 2 AM on most weekdays and until 3 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. It offers a wide selection of interesting drinks. It's also known for its food, being praised as a recommended 100% vegetarian and vegan eatery by Eat Out Vegan Wales.
