Leandro Damián Cufré, born on May 9, 1978, is a football coach from Argentina. He used to be a professional football player. He played as a defender. Since 2021, he has been an assistant coach for the Venezuela national football team.
Leandro started his football journey in his hometown, playing for Gimnasia La Plata. Later, he moved to Europe and played for famous clubs like Roma, Monaco, and Dinamo Zagreb. Towards the end of his playing days, he moved to Mexico and played mostly for Atlas.
He played for the Argentina national football team 4 times. He was also part of the team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Leandro Cufré's Club Career
Starting Out in Argentina
Leandro Cufré was born in La Plata, Argentina. He began his football career with the youth team of Gimnasia La Plata. In January 1996, he joined the first team. He played 129 games for them and scored four goals.
Playing in Italy: Roma and Siena
In January 2002, Cufré moved to Italy to play for AS Roma. While playing in Italy's top league, Serie A, he played 80 games and scored two goals. He was even named the Best Defender in Italy once. He also spent some time on loan at another Italian team, Siena, where he played 35 matches.
Time in France: Monaco
In the summer of 2006, Cufré moved to France. He joined Ligue 1 team AS Monaco. He played 61 games for Monaco and scored three goals. He was a regular player and even became the team's vice-captain.
Short Loan to Hertha BSC
On January 29, 2009, Cufré was loaned to Hertha BSC, a team in Germany's Bundesliga. He played for them until the end of the 2008–09 season. After that, he went back to Monaco in June 2009.
Return to Gimnasia La Plata
On July 18, 2009, Cufré returned to his first club, Gimnasia La Plata. This was eight years after he had left for Europe. However, he soon asked to leave the team. This was due to some disagreements with the coach at the time.
Success in Croatia: Dinamo Zagreb
On August 19, 2009, Cufré signed a contract with Dinamo Zagreb, the champions of Croatia. He quickly became a favorite among the fans because he always played with great effort. He played in many important games for Dinamo. In total, he played 53 matches for the club. In December 2011, he and Dinamo agreed to end his contract. He then announced he would continue his career in Mexico.
Moving to Mexico: Club Atlas
On December 7, 2011, the same day he left Dinamo Zagreb, it was announced that Cufré would join Mexican club Atlas. The team is from Guadalajara.
Leandro Cufré's International Career
Leandro Cufré played for the Argentina national football team 4 times. His first game for the national team was in 2000. He was also part of the Argentina Under-20 team. This team won the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship in Malaysia.
Cufré was also chosen for Argentina's team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. During a quarter-final match against Germany, after Argentina lost, there was an incident. Cufré, who was a substitute and did not play in that match, was involved in a disagreement. He received a red card for his actions. FIFA, the world football organization, looked into the incident. They fined Cufré and suspended him for four matches.
