Leandro Daniel Paredes is a professional footballer from Argentina. He was born on June 29, 1994. Leandro plays as a defensive midfielder for Argentine Primera División club Boca Juniors. He also plays for the Argentina national team. A big highlight of his career is winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.

Club Football Journey
Leandro Paredes has played for several top football clubs. He started his career in Argentina before moving to Italy, Russia, and France.
Starting at Boca Juniors
Paredes began his professional career at Boca Juniors in Argentina. He made his first league appearance for the club on November 6, 2010. In January 2014, he moved to Italy to play for Chievo Verona on loan.
Playing for Roma
After his time at Chievo, Paredes joined Roma, another Italian club, on loan in July 2014. He made his debut for Roma in September 2014. In February 2015, he scored his first goal for the team. Roma then signed him permanently in June 2015.

Time at Zenit Saint Petersburg
On July 1, 2017, Paredes moved to Russia to play for Zenit Saint Petersburg. He signed a four-year contract with the club.
Joining Paris Saint-Germain
In January 2019, Leandro Paredes joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in France. He signed a contract for four and a half years. Exactly one year after joining, in January 2020, he scored his first goal for PSG. He even wore the captain's armband in that game. In April 2021, he scored his first goal in the French league, Ligue 1.
Loan to Juventus
In August 2022, Paredes went on loan to Juventus, an Italian club, for one season.
Back to Roma
On August 16, 2023, Paredes returned to Roma in Italy. He signed a contract to play for them until June 30, 2025.
Return to Boca Juniors
On July 11, 2025, Paredes made a big move back to his first club, Boca Juniors. He took on the number 5 shirt.
International Career with Argentina
Leandro Paredes has been a key player for the Argentina national team.
In May 2017, he was called up to play for Argentina for the first time. He made his debut in June, scoring his first international goal in a game against Singapore.
He was part of Argentina's team for the 2019 Copa América. Argentina finished third in that tournament, and Paredes was named one of the "Best XI" players.
In June 2021, he was part of the squad that won the 2021 Copa América. In the semi-finals, he scored a penalty kick to help Argentina reach the final.
A major highlight was being selected for Argentina's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. During the quarter-final match against the Netherlands, Paredes scored in the penalty shootout, helping Argentina win. He also scored a crucial penalty in the World Cup final shootout against France, which Argentina won, making them world champions!
In June 2024, Paredes was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2024 Copa América.

Leandro Paredes has family roots in Paraguay through his mother. He can speak the Guaraní language fluently. His cousin, Franco, is also a professional footballer.
