Lee Holloway (born December 4, 1946 – died March 14, 2018) was an American social worker and politician. He was the leader of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors for two terms. From late 2010 to early 2011, Lee Holloway served as the temporary leader, or Acting County Executive, for Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

About Lee Holloway

Lee Holloway lived in Milwaukee his whole life. He often said he came from "blue-collar, working-class people." This means his parents worked hard in factories for many years.

He went to Lincoln High School. There, he played football and earned a special scholarship for athletes. This scholarship helped him go to the University of Arkansas. He graduated from there in 1969.

Later, in 1972, he came back to Milwaukee. He earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. His studies focused on helping people with developmental disabilities.

Before working in government, Lee Holloway was a guidance counselor at Messmer High School. He also worked in charge of different social service groups. These groups included 4C's of Milwaukee County and the Inner City Development Project – North. He was also the president and CEO of Milwaukee Comprehensive Community Health.

His Work in Politics

In 1988, Lee Holloway ran to become the mayor of Milwaukee. He lost in the first election round. He said he wasn't very involved in politics before this. But he felt it was important for an African-American person to be in the race.

Four years later, he ran for a spot on the county board. He won this election and was re-elected many times. He served as a county supervisor from 1996 to 2008.

In December 2010, the county executive, Scott Walker, left his job. He had been elected as the Governor of Wisconsin. Because Lee Holloway was the chairman of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, he immediately became the Acting County Executive. This helped keep things running smoothly.

By law, he had to choose a temporary leader within 30 days. So, on January 25, 2011, Lee Holloway chose Marvin Pratt. Marvin Pratt officially took over as the Interim County Executive on February 4, 2011.

His Family Life

Lee Holloway was married to his wife, Lynda. They had four grown sons together.
