Scott Kevin Walker (born November 2, 1967) is an American Republican politician. He served as the 45th Governor of Wisconsin. He was governor from 2011 to 2019.
Walker was elected governor twice, first in 2010 and again in 2014. He ran for a third term in 2018 but lost to Tony Evers.

Scott Walker's Early Life
Scott Walker was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His family later moved to Plainfield, Iowa. They also lived in Delavan, Wisconsin.
He attended Marquette University. However, he did not finish his degree there.
Scott Walker's Early Career
Walker started his political career in the Wisconsin State Assembly. He served there from 1993 to 2002.
In 2002, the leader of Milwaukee County resigned. Walker won a special election to take that position. He served as the Milwaukee County Executive from 2002 to 2010.

Becoming Governor
Scott Walker was elected governor of Wisconsin in 2010. He won against Tom Barrett, who was the mayor of Milwaukee.
Key Actions and Recall Election
After becoming governor in 2011, Walker introduced a plan to change the state budget. This plan limited the power of public employees to negotiate their work agreements. This is called collective bargaining.
This new law led to many protests at the state capitol building. People also tried to remove Walker from office through a special election. This is known as a recall election.
In June 2012, Walker faced Tom Barrett again in this recall election. Walker won the election. He became the only governor in U.S. history to win a recall election.
End of Governorship
Walker ran for re-election a third time in 2018. He lost to Tony Evers by a small number of votes.
Scott Walker's Personal Life
Scott Walker married Tonette Tarantino in 1993. They have two children together.
