Lemar Durant (born August 20, 1992) is a former Canadian football player. He was a talented wide receiver who played for seven seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Durant played college football at Simon Fraser University. The Calgary Stampeders picked him in the 2015 CFL Draft. He also played for the BC Lions, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Ottawa Redblacks.

Early Football Days
Durant played high school football at Centennial Secondary School. In his final year, he was the team's best receiver. But he switched to quarterback when the main quarterback got hurt.
He played seven games as quarterback that year. Durant threw seven touchdown passes. He also ran for 985 yards and scored 16 more touchdowns. For his amazing performance, he was named the Coquitlam Sports Wall of Fame’s male high school athlete of the year in 2009. He also won the Canadian High School Football Provincial MVP award. Durant was also a great basketball player, scoring 32 points per game.
After high school in 2010, Durant went to the University of Nevada, Reno. He played wide receiver for the Wolf Pack. Later, he moved to Simon Fraser University and played there from 2012 to 2014. At Simon Fraser, Durant caught 175 passes for 2,392 yards and 28 touchdowns.
In October 2012, Durant tied a league record. He caught 12 passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns in one game. He finished his first year at Simon Fraser with 17 touchdowns. He also had a conference record of 93 catches. This earned him a spot on the first-team conference all-stars. In his last year, he was again named an all-star. He had 55 catches for 685 yards and four touchdowns.
Professional Football Career
Playing for the Calgary Stampeders
Durant showed off his skills at the CFL Combine. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. He also had a 36-inch vertical jump. The CFL Scouting Bureau ranked him eighth among all players in the draft.
Durant was picked by the Calgary Stampeders in the second round of the 2015 CFL Draft. He was the 18th player chosen overall. He played well in his first pre-season game. Durant made his CFL debut on July 18, 2015. He played against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In his first season, he played in 13 games. He caught 12 passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns. In 2016, he played in 15 games. He caught 35 passes for 402 yards and one touchdown.
In 2018, the Stampeders won the 106th Grey Cup. They beat the Ottawa Redblacks 27–16. Durant was named the Grey Cup's Most Valuable Canadian. He caught four passes for 30 yards and one touchdown in that game. He also ran for 22 yards. Durant played 51 games for the Stampeders. He had 102 catches for 1280 yards and eight touchdowns.
Joining the BC Lions
On February 12, 2019, Durant signed with his hometown team, the BC Lions. His first year with the Lions was a great one. Durant set new personal bests. He had 57 catches for 810 yards and five touchdowns. He played in 15 games that season. His season ended early due to a foot injury. Even with the injury, Durant was chosen as the Lions' Most Outstanding Canadian player.
He signed a new contract with the Lions that lasted until the 2022 season. In 2021, he played in only eight games. This was due to injuries and a shorter season. He had 24 catches for 243 yards. The Lions released him on January 21, 2022.
Time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats
On January 31, 2022, Durant signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He missed the start of the 2022 season due to an injury. He ended up playing in 11 games. He caught 12 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown. After the season, he became a free agent.
Playing for the Ottawa Redblacks
On February 17, 2023, Durant signed a one-year contract with the Ottawa Redblacks. However, on May 11, 2023, the Redblacks announced that Durant had retired from professional football.
Durant played seven seasons in the CFL. He played for three different teams. He played in 85 regular season games. He caught 195 passes for 2,465 yards and 14 touchdowns.
