Leron "Boogie" Black (born January 31, 1996) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He is now a player development coach for the Portland Trail Blazers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before becoming a coach, he played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini.

High School Basketball Journey
In September 2012, Leron Black first said he would play basketball for Baylor University. However, he changed his mind in January 2013. He explained that he had committed too early without looking at all his choices.
After visiting Illinois, Black decided to join their team on September 1, 2013. He officially signed to play for Illinois for the 2014–15 season. During his last year of high school, Black was amazing. He scored about 20 points and grabbed almost 13 rebounds per game. He helped his team, White Station, win 30 games and lose only 3. Black was named Tennessee Mr. Basketball for 2014. He also won the Gatorade Tennessee Boys Basketball Player of the Year award.
College Basketball Career
Leron Black started his first college game on January 21, 2015. He had a fantastic game against Purdue. He scored 15 points and got 13 rebounds, which is called a double-double. This was a great start to his college career.
In October 2015, Black had surgery on his knee for a meniscus tear. This meant he had to miss some games. He returned to play in November 2015. After the 2017–18 season, Black was recognized for his great play. He was named to the honorable mention All Big-10 team.
Playing Professional Basketball
On March 15, 2018, Leron Black decided to leave college early. He wanted to start his professional basketball career. He was not chosen in the 2018 NBA draft.
Black then signed a one-year deal with a team in Israel called Elitzur Yavne in August 2018. But he left the team before playing any games. In October 2018, he was picked by the Raptors 905 in the 2018 NBA G League Draft. However, he was later released from their training camp.
In November 2018, Black signed with Argentino de Junín in Argentina. In July 2019, he joined Flamengo in Brazil. He played 11 games there. Later, he played for Minas and Abejas de León in Mexico. In April 2021, Black signed again with Team Cali in Colombia.
The Basketball Tournament
Leron Black also played in The Basketball Tournament 2020. He joined a team called House of 'Paign, which was made up of former Illinois players. He scored two points in a game where his team won.
Playing for His Country
In May 2014, Black was invited to a special training camp. This camp was for the USA Basketball team that would play in the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. It was held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, Leron Black started coaching. In 2021, he joined the Dayton Flyers as a graduate assistant. He was later promoted to video coordinator in 2023.
In October 2023, Black became an assistant coach and director of video for the Rip City Remix. This team is part of the NBA G League. He was promoted to an assistant coach for the Rip City Remix the next season.
In June 2025, the Portland Trail Blazers hired Leron Black. He now works as a player development coach for the team.
