Less Browne (born December 7, 1959) is an American former professional football player. He was an amazing defensive back who played in two big leagues: the United States Football League (USFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL). Less played for several teams, including the Pittsburgh Maulers, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Ottawa Rough Riders, and BC Lions. He is known for his incredible skills and for winning many championships.

Less Browne's Football Journey
Starting in the USFL
Less Browne began his professional football career with the Pittsburgh Maulers in the USFL. He was chosen in the 1984 Draft. Even though he signed with the Maulers, he didn't get to play in any games. He was released early in the season.
Becoming a CFL Star
After leaving the USFL, Less Browne joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. This is where he truly shined! He became one of the best defensive backs in the league.
Less Browne holds some amazing records in the CFL. He has the most interceptions in a career with 87. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player. He also holds the record for the most yards gained after an interception, with 1,508 yards! This means he ran the ball a long way after catching it.
He also ranks third in the CFL for career blocked kicks, with eight. A blocked kick is when a player stops an opponent's kick, like a field goal or a punt.
Championship Wins and Awards
Less Browne played in four Grey Cup games, which are the CFL's championship games. He won three of them! He helped his teams win the Grey Cup in 1986, 1990, and 1994.
He was also chosen as a CFL All-Star six times. This means he was recognized as one of the best players in the league for those years. He was also a runner-up twice for the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award. This award goes to the best defensive player in the league.
Life After Playing Football
Hall of Fame and Top Player
After his playing career, Less Browne continued to be recognized for his achievements. In 2002, he was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. This is a huge honor for any football player.
In 2006, a Canadian sports network called The Sports Network (TSN) voted him one of the CFL's Top 50 players of the modern era. He was ranked number 23, showing how respected he was in the league.
Coaching Career
Later, Less Browne became an assistant coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. This allowed him to share his knowledge and experience with new players.
