Li Guanxing (born January 14, 1940 – died December 1, 2020) was a very important Chinese engineer. He specialized in nuclear materials. These are special materials used in things like nuclear power.
He was the president of a big company called CNNC North Nuclear Fuel Element Co., Ltd. This was from 2001 to 2004. He also led the Chinese Nuclear Society for many years. This group helps share knowledge about nuclear science.
About Li Guanxing
Li Guanxing was born in Shanghai, China, on January 14, 1940. He started studying at Tsinghua University in 1956. He chose to study nuclear materials in the Department of Engineering Physics. He finished his first degree in 1962 and then continued his studies there.
In 1967, he began working at a research institute. This institute was part of the CNNC North Nuclear Fuel Element Co., Ltd. It was one of the biggest state-owned companies in Baotou, Inner Mongolia.
After some big changes in China's economy, Li Guanxing got a special chance. In 1982, he became a visiting scholar at the Ohio State University in the United States. This means he went there to study and do research with government support.
He came back to China in 1984. That same year, he became the deputy director of his institute. He then became the chief engineer in 1990. He held this important job until 2000. In 2001, he was promoted to president of the company. He stayed in this role until 2004. Even after he retired, he continued to help as an honorary general manager.
Li Guanxing passed away in Beijing on December 1, 2020. He was 80 years old.
Awards and Recognition
- 1999: He became a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). This is a very high honor for engineers in China.
