Like a Storm is a rock band from Auckland, New Zealand. They are famous for mixing heavy guitar sounds with the unique sound of the didgeridoo, a traditional instrument from Australia. This makes their music stand out! They are the most successful hard rock band from New Zealand on American radio. Both of their first two albums, "The End of the Beginning" and "Awaken the Fire", appeared on the important Billboard charts in the USA.
Like a Storm has toured a lot in North America, playing their own shows. They have also shared stages with many big bands like Godsmack, Korn, and Shinedown in both America and Europe.

Band History
The band members moved from New Zealand to North America. They started touring the USA in 2009. They were invited to join the band Creed on their "Full Circle" Reunion tour. Fans really loved Like a Storm's live shows! Because of this, their first album, The End of the Beginning, quickly appeared on Billboard's New Artist Charts. It even reached No. 61 just from sales at their concerts.
The band kept touring a lot in America in 2010. They were promoting their first song, "Chemical Infatuation." They played with bands like Shinedown and Skillet. They also played at big music events like Rock on the Range. "Chemical Infatuation" reached No. 43 on the U.S. Active Rock Top 100 chart.
In 2011, Like a Storm went on two tours across the US with Alter Bridge. Between these tours, the band recorded Like a Storm Unplugged. This album had acoustic (unplugged) and piano versions of their popular songs. The Brooks brothers, who are in the band, produced and mixed this album. They played many different instruments on it, including didgeridoo, piano, church organ, and djembe (a type of drum). Matt Brooks, the singer and guitarist, said they love to explore different sounds. They see it as building new soundscapes with various instruments.
Also in 2011, Like a Storm played on the main stages of three summer festivals. These included Boonstock in Canada and "Pain in the Grass" in Seattle. In December 2011, fans voted them "Most Fan Friendly Band." The band thanked their fans on social media. In January 2012, Like a Storm went back to New Zealand for a holiday. They filmed their first unplugged DVD there, called "Southern Skies." It came out on February 22, 2012. In the DVD, Chris, Kent, and Matt show viewers famous places in Auckland. They share stories about growing up there. They also play acoustic versions of their songs at these locations.
In the spring of 2012, the band went on an acoustic tour across the United States. They played more than 50 shows to promote their special Acoustic EP and the "Southern Skies" DVD. At these shows, they often played cover songs by other artists. These included "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Soon after their acoustic tour, the band toured with Creed again in May 2012. Like a Storm also played at several festivals in summer 2012. These included Summerfest in Wisconsin and Common Ground Music Festival in Lansing, Michigan. Their own "Unleash the Chaos" tour started on October 13, 2012. This tour supported their new EP, "Chaos Theory, Pt. 1." The first song from this EP, "Never Surrender," got a music video on November 21, 2012. The "Chaos Theory Part 1" EP, with seven songs, was released two days later. It included their cover of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise." This cover was played on many radio stations, including Sirius XM's Octane.
In 2013, the band released a live double-album called Worlds Collide: Live from the Ends of the Earth. This album had two live CDs. The first CD showed Like a Storm's energetic rock show, recorded during a tour in American arenas. The second CD showed the band's unplugged side. It was recorded in their home country, New Zealand. The album used many instruments besides the usual hard rock sound. These included didgeridoo, djembe, piano, synthesizers, choirs, and programming.
The song "Love the Way You Hate Me" was number one on Sirius XM Octane radio in North America for five weeks. This success made the band the highest-charting rock act from New Zealand in US radio history. The song stayed on the Mainstream Rock chart for 19 weeks and reached No. 21.
Their next song, "Wish You Hell," reached No. 17 on the Mainstream Rock chart. It mixed hard rock with delta blues, creating a sound they called "Voodoo Metal." It featured instruments like slide guitar, jaw harp, and mandolin. The third song, "Become the Enemy," reached number 11 on the same chart.
The band signed with Another Century Records. Their second full-length album, "Awaken the Fire," was one of the first albums released by this record label. The band wrote, produced, and recorded it themselves. It had updated versions of songs from "Chaos Theory, Pt. 1" and four new songs. The album came out on February 24, 2015.
In 2015, the band toured with Hellyeah and played at festivals like Rock on the Range. They also toured all over Europe to support the release of "Awaken the Fire."
On May 10, 2018, Like A Storm announced their third album, "Catacombs." It was planned for release on June 15, 2018. On May 18, 2018, the band released their newest song, "The Devil Inside," from Catacombs. On the same day, they released a music video for the song. They also announced the album would be released on June 22, 2018.
