Paul Alton Senegal was born in Lafayette, Louisiana. He got the nickname "Lil' Buck" because he was short. His mother, Odette Broussard, also played the guitar, which likely inspired him.
In the late 1950s, Paul started playing music with other artists. Some of these musicians included Carol Fran and Joe Tex.
Paul's Music Career
Paul Sinegal began his career as a session musician. This means he played guitar on recordings for other artists. He worked at Excello Records with famous musicians like Slim Harpo and Lazy Lester. He also recorded with Rockin' Dopsie and Katie Webster.

Later, in the 1980s and 1990s, Paul also toured internationally. He played with other popular bands like Buckwheat Zydeco and Rockin' Dopsie.
His Own Albums
Paul Sinegal also formed his own band called the Cowboy Stew Blues Revue. He worked with musician C. C. Adcock on this project.
In 1999, Paul released his album called The Buck Starts Here. Many of the songs on this album were written by Allen Toussaint. Paul explained that even though he was known for zydeco, he always felt like a blues musician. He said, "Zydeco is the blues. It's basically blues played with accordion."
Paul also appeared in a movie. He was in the 2015 documentary film I Am the Blues.
