Lili Anne Taylor (born February 20, 1967) is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles in many movies and TV shows. Lili Taylor became famous for her parts in films like Mystic Pizza (1988) and Say Anything... (1989).
She then became a key actress in independent films during the 1990s. Some of these movies include Bright Angel (1990), Dogfight (1991), and I Shot Andy Warhol (1996). Lili Taylor has won an Independent Spirit Award and has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards.
Besides independent films, she has also acted in big Hollywood movies. These include Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Rudy (1993), Ransom (1996), and The Conjuring (2013). She has also appeared in popular TV series like American Crime (2015–2017) and Six Feet Under (2002–2005).

Early life and education
Lili Taylor was born in Glencoe, Illinois, a town near Chicago. She is the fifth of six children in her family. Her parents are Marie and George Park Taylor, who was an artist.
She grew up in a loving family home. Lili has said that she was always "a bit of a searcher" when she was a child. She finished high school at New Trier High School in 1985. After that, she studied acting at The Theatre School at DePaul University and the Piven Theatre Workshop.
Acting career
Lili Taylor has acted in many films since 1988. Some of her early well-known movies include Mystic Pizza, Dogfight, and Rudy. She has mostly worked in independent films and theater.
In 1991, she starred in Dogfight. She played a young woman named Rose who goes on a tricky date with a Marine. Later, in 1993, she was in Short Cuts, a big movie about Los Angeles. In 1996, Lili Taylor played Valerie Solanas in the film I Shot Andy Warhol. Valerie Solanas was a person known for a controversial event involving Andy Warhol.
In 1998, she appeared in an episode of The X-Files called "Mind's Eye". For this role, she was nominated for an Emmy Award. The same year, she was in John Waters' film Pecker. In 1999, Taylor starred in The Haunting.
In 2005, Lili Taylor won the Best Actress award at the Copenhagen International Film Festival for her role in Factotum. She worked with director Mary Harron again in 2006 on The Notorious Bettie Page. In 2009, Taylor played Sheriff Lillian Holley in the movie Public Enemies. She played a sheriff who put John Dillinger in jail.
In 2013, Lili Taylor starred in the popular horror movie The Conjuring. In 2015, she was in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials as Dr. Mary Cooper. In 2020, she starred in the film Paper Spiders.
On television, Lili Taylor played Lisa Kimmel Fisher in the HBO drama Six Feet Under. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for this role. From 2015 to 2017, she played Anne Blaine in the TV series American Crime. For this role, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress. More recently, she has appeared in Outer Range from 2022 to 2024.
Lili Taylor has also acted on stage. Her Broadway plays include Three Sisters (1997) and Marvin's Room (2017).
Personal life
In 2009, Lili Taylor married writer Nick Flynn. They have a daughter named Maeve, who was born around 2008.
Lili Taylor is also very active in helping to protect nature, especially birds. She is on the boards of the American Birding Association and National Audubon Society.
Awards and recognition
Lili Taylor has been nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award three times. She is also known for her work in independent films. She has been nominated for four Independent Spirit Awards. She won the Best Supporting Female award for her role in Household Saints (1993).
In 1996, she received a special award from the Sundance Film Festival for her acting in I Shot Andy Warhol. Ten years later, in 2006, she was given the Excellence in Acting Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival.
