Early Life and Education

Lilian Griffith was born in 1877 in a place called Abersychan. This town is in Monmouthshire, Wales. She loved art from a young age. To learn more, she went to several art schools.

Lilian studied at the Wimbledon College of Art. She also attended the Slade School of Fine Art. Later, she went to the Westminster School of Art. Here, she learned how to create sculptures. Her teachers were famous artists Alfred Gilbert and Alfred Drury.

Artistic Creations and Exhibitions

Lilian Griffith became known for her sculptures. She made many portrait busts. These are sculptures of a person's head and shoulders. She often used marble or bronze for her works. She also created flat art pieces like plaques and medallions.

Besides sculptures, Lilian was a skilled painter of miniatures. These are very small, detailed paintings. Her art was shown in many important places. From 1902 to 1959, her works were often displayed at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

She also exhibited her art in Paris. In 1911, her work was shown at the Salon des Artistes Francais. Her art could also be seen in British galleries. One famous place was the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
