Lilyan Chauvin (born Lilyan Zemoz; August 6, 1925–June 26, 2008) was a talented French-American actress. She was also a director, writer, and acting teacher. Lilyan was born in Paris, France.
She started her career on French radio and on stage in England. In 1952, she moved to the United States. She wanted to become an actress in Hollywood.
Lilyan Chauvin acted in American films for over 60 years. She often played supporting roles. Some of her movies include Private Benjamin (1980) and Predator 2 (1990). She also appeared in Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can (2002).
She was also very active in television. She guest-starred in many popular TV shows. These include The X-Files, Murder, She Wrote, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Friends.
Later in her life, Lilyan taught acting and directing. She taught at the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Southern California. She also helped lead the Women in Film council. She passed away in Los Angeles in 2008 due to health issues.

In 1952, Lilyan Chauvin moved to New York City. She became an American citizen. She continued her acting studies with famous teachers like Uta Hagen.
She also worked hard to improve her English. She attended the Berlitz School of Languages. She watched American movies every day to learn the language.
Lilyan was already good at Spanish, German, Italian, and Russian. She became a top teacher at Berlitz. She even coached other actors on how to speak with different accents.

Other films she appeared in include Yours, Mine and Ours (1968) and The Other Side of Midnight (1977). She also played a role in Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984). Later, she was in Predator 2 (1990) and The Man Who Wasn't There (2001).
