The color lime is a bright, yellowish-green. It gets its name from the tasty fruit, the lime. If you look at a color wheel, lime is found right in the middle of chartreuse green and yellow.
When you see the color "lime" on a computer screen (like a web color), it often means a pure green color in the RGB system. But when people talk about lime green, they usually mean the color of the outside skin of a lime fruit. The color of the inside of a lime, or a drink like limeade, is sometimes called lime pulp.
The first time the word lime was used to describe a color in the English language was in 1905.
