Lin Yi (Chinese: 林一; pinyin: Lín Yī, born on January 11, 1999) is a Chinese actor and model. He became very popular after starring in the 2019 romantic TV show Put Your Head on My Shoulder. This role helped him become widely known.

Early Life and School

Lin Yi was born in Hebei, China. He grew up in Shenyang, which is in Liaoning province. In 2015, he scored the highest in a dance exam in Liaoning. This helped him get into Beijing Sport University. He chose to study Dancesport there.

Acting Career

Starting Out (2015–2018)

In 2015, when Lin Yi was still in his first year of university, an agent found him. He then signed with a company called Tangren Media Co. Ltd. In 2016, he went abroad during his summer break. There, he received special training in dance and acting.

In 2017, Lin Yi tried out for a TV show called My Huckleberry Friends. He auditioned for the main male role, Lin Yang, but he did not get the part.

Later in 2017, Lin Yi joined a reality TV show called Beautiful Youth Academy. During an acting class on the show, he acted out a scene from the movie Mr. Six. The director, Feng Xiaogang, was impressed. He said Lin Yi would become a great actor. In November 2017, Lin Yi also won a fashion show called Crazy Wardrobe. In December 2017, he was chosen to act in a science fiction movie called Hope Island. He worked with famous actors like Duan Yihong and Andy García.

Becoming Famous (2019–Present)

In 2019, Lin Yi became much more famous. This happened because of his role as Gu Wei Yi in the TV show Put Your Head on My Shoulder. This show is a romantic comedy based on a popular novel. It became very popular in China and other countries. People really liked Lin Yi's acting as Gu Wei Yi.

On May 20, 2019, Lin Yi and his co-star Xing Fei met thousands of fans in Bangkok, Thailand. Lin Yi was also featured in Harper's Bazaar Hong Kong magazine. In November 2019, he was nominated for an award for his role in Put Your Head on My Shoulder. In December 2019, he won two awards: "Youth Trending Artist of the Year" and "New Actor of the Year."

In 2020, Lin Yi starred in two more TV shows: The Blessed Girl and Memory of Encaustic Tile. He also sang a song called "My Motherland" with other artists. This song was a tribute to China's 71st anniversary.

On January 29, 2021, the fantasy show The Blessed Girl was released. Lin Yi played a young king named Yuan Yi. On April 28, another show called Love Scenery aired. In this show, Lin Yi played an e-sports gamer named Lu Jing. In October, he joined a TV variety show called Keep Running: Yellow River Season 2. In December, he was chosen for a special program for young actors.

On January 26, 2022, the show Memory of Encaustic Tile was released. Lin Yi played Zheng Su Nian. On April 2, the movie One Week Friends came out. He played Xu You Shu in this film.

In September 2023, Lin Yi visited South Korea. He met fans to promote his movie One Week Friends. On December 14, a time-travel show called Derailment was released. Lin Yi played Qi Lian in this show.

In 2024, Lin Yi continued to be busy. On March 1, the show Everyone Loves Me was broadcast. Lin Yi played Gu Xun, a shy guy who falls for a girl he first rejected. On March 9, the TV show Angels Fall Sometimes aired. In this show, Lin Yi played Lin Tuo, an interior designer who gets a serious illness called ALS. On June 8, the TV show The Tale of Rose was broadcast. Lin Yi played He Xi, a young pilot. He has also finished filming two more shows, Smile Code and Ski into Love. Fans are excited to see these new shows.
