Lip Sync Battle Shorties is a super fun American reality television show! It's all about kids showing off their amazing lip-syncing skills. They perform popular songs, pretending to sing, with awesome costumes and dance moves. The show first appeared on Nickelodeon as a special event on December 11, 2016. Later, it became a regular TV series starting October 15, 2017. The show is hosted by the energetic Nick Cannon and the talented JoJo Siwa.
How the Show Was Made
Lip Sync Battle Shorties is a spin-off of the popular adult show, Lip Sync Battle. This means it's a new show that came from an older, successful one. In February 2016, the TV channels Spike and Nickelodeon announced they were working on a kids' version.
The first special episode aired on Nickelodeon on December 11, 2016. It was an hour long and hosted by actress Sarah Hyland. A few days later, it also aired on Spike.
In March 2017, Nickelodeon decided to make Lip Sync Battle Shorties a full series. They ordered 10 episodes! Production for these new episodes began later that year. In August 2017, it was announced that Nick Cannon would take over as the main host. The super popular JoJo Siwa joined him as his co-host and sidekick.
The show then aired special episodes for Halloween and holidays in late 2017. New regular episodes started airing in January 2018. The show was so popular that Nickelodeon decided to renew it for a second season in March 2018. This second season also had 10 episodes.
