Career
2013–2019: TV Beginnings and Music Success
JoJo Siwa's career started when she was a contestant on the TV show Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. She was the youngest dancer in the competition. After that, she joined the cast of the popular show Dance Moms, where she appeared with her mother.
In 2016, Siwa released her song "Boomerang". The song has a positive message about not letting mean comments online bring you down. The music video became a huge hit on YouTube.
During this time, Siwa became famous for wearing large, colorful hair bows. She created her own line of bows with the store Claire's, and they became very popular with kids. Siwa said the bows were a "symbol of power, confidence, believing-ness." In 2019, a makeup kit with her name on it was recalled from stores after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found it contained unsafe materials.
In 2017, Siwa signed a deal with Nickelodeon. She starred in the Nickelodeon movie Blurt! and the show Lip Sync Battle Shorties. She also released books, toys, and room decorations with department store J. C. Penney. In 2019, she started her first big concert tour, called D.R.E.A.M. The Tour, performing in cities across the world.
2020–2023: More TV and Other Projects
In 2020, Siwa appeared on the TV show The Masked Singer dressed as the "T-Rex". At 16 years old, she was the youngest contestant on the show at that time. She was also a playable character in the video games Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix and its sequel.
In 2021, Siwa was a contestant on the thirtieth season of Dancing with the Stars. She and her partner, Jenna Johnson, danced their way to second place. That same year, a board game called JoJo's Juice was pulled from stores because it contained questions that were not appropriate for children. Siwa said she did not know about the questions and was upset by them.
The following year, Siwa became a judge on the dance competition show So You Think You Can Dance. She also appeared on the show America's Got Talent to support XOMG Pop, a music group she and her mother created.
2024–Present: New Music and Celebrity Big Brother
In 2024, Siwa changed her look and music style to appeal to an older audience. She released the song "Karma" from her extended play Guilty Pleasure. In August 2024, Siwa mentioned that she would like to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest because of her Polish family background.
In 2025, Siwa was a housemate on the British reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother, where she finished in third place.
