Make It Pop is a fun Canadian TV show that mixes music and comedy! It was created by Thomas W. Lynch and Nick Cannon. The show aired on Nickelodeon from March 26, 2015, to August 20, 2016. It stars Megan Lee, Louriza Tronco, Erika Tham, and Dale Whibley.

What the Show Is About

Make It Pop tells the story of three friends: Sun Hi, Jodi, and Corki. They all go to a boarding school called Mackendrick Prep. Together, they decide to form a K-pop-inspired band called XO-IQ.

With the help of their friend Caleb, they discover a love for music. They also get into some fun mischief, find friendship, and even a little bit of romance along the way.

Main Characters

• Megan Lee plays Sun Hi. She is a wild and free-spirited person. Sun Hi sees herself as a rising star and is the leader of the band XO-IQ.
• Louriza Tronco plays Jodi. She is strong, independent, and very stylish. Jodi is the fashion expert of XO-IQ. She also has a big crush on Caleb.
• Erika Tham plays Corki. She is the smartest member of the group. Corki is known as the bookworm of XO-IQ.
• Dale Whibley plays Caleb. He is the DJ for the band. Caleb creates all the cool beats for XO-IQ's songs.

Other Characters

• John-Alan Slachta plays Jared. He is the school's student president and football quarterback. Jared thinks he rules the school.
• Taveeta Szymanowicz plays Valerie. She is the head cheerleader and often causes trouble for the main characters.
• Natalie Ganzhorn plays Heather. She is Valerie's best friend and also a cheerleader. Later, Heather develops a crush on Caleb.
• Matt Baram plays Mr. Stark. He is the head of the Theater Arts Department. Mr. Stark is also a resident adviser at Mackendrick Prep.
• Karen Holness plays Ms. Diona. She is the principal of Mackendrick Prep.
• Vinson Tran plays Linc. He is a guitarist who sometimes disagrees with Sun Hi and the band. Later, Linc becomes Sun Hi's love interest.
• Mickey Nguyen plays Alex. She is Jodi's relaxed rival for a fashion internship.
• Tina Jung plays Hye Jung Ko. She is a famous fashion designer who hires Jodi.
• Russell Yuen plays Mr. Chang. He is Corki's strict father who lives in China.
• Alex Eling plays Darmala. He is Alex's roommate and has a crush on Jodi.

How the Show Was Made

The TV show was made by a company called DHX Media. The first season had 20 episodes. In May 2015, it was announced that Make It Pop would have a second season. This second season also had 20 episodes and started on January 4, 2016.

There were also two special episodes. A Christmas special aired on December 5, 2015. A summer special was shown on August 20, 2016.

The Music of XO-IQ

XO-IQ is the band created in the show by Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, and Caleb. The actors Megan Lee, Louriza Tronco, Erika Tham, and Dale Whibley recorded the songs in Toronto.

The band XO-IQ performed live for the first time at a party before the 2015 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Nick Cannon introduced them at this event. They also performed at the 2015 YTV Summer Beach Bash.

Where the Show Aired

Make It Pop first aired in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Nickelodeon on July 20, 2015. It then came to Australia and New Zealand on Nickelodeon on August 10, 2015. It also aired on ABC3 in Australia.

In Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, the show started on Nickelodeon on August 31, 2015. In Canada, it debuted on YTV on September 9, 2015. Finally, in the United Kingdom, it also aired on CITV starting October 31, 2016.
