The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is a very important leader in the Indian region of Jammu and Kashmir. This person acts as the representative of the President of India in the region. They help manage the daily activities and government of this union territory.
This special job was created in October 2019. Before that, Jammu and Kashmir was a state. But in August 2019, the Parliament of India passed a new law. This law changed the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two smaller union territory areas. These new areas are Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The law also created the new positions of Lieutenant Governor for both these regions.
