Manoj Sinha, born on July 1, 1959, is an important Indian politician. He currently serves as the second Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Before this, he was a minister of state for Communications and Railways in the Indian government.
Sinha was also a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. He represented the Ghazipur area three times for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Early Life and Education
Manoj Sinha was born in Mohanpura, a village in the Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. This was on July 1, 1959.
He studied Civil Engineering and earned both a Bachelor's (B.Tech) and a Master's (M.Tech) degree. He got these degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. This university was previously known as IT-BHU. During his time as a student, Sinha was the president of the students' union at Banaras Hindu University.
Political Journey
Manoj Sinha's journey in politics started in 1982. This was when he became the president of the Banaras Hindu University Students Union. He first became a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha in 1996. He was re-elected for a second term in 1999.
From 1989 to 1996, Sinha was a member of the BJP national council. He was elected to the Lok Sabha for a third time in 2014. This happened when the BJP won many seats in the national elections.
Roles in Government
Before becoming very active in politics, he was part of the General Council, School of Planning. This was between 1999 and 2000. He also served on committees for Energy and Government Assurances.
In May 2014, he became the Minister of State for Railways. This was part of the first group of ministers in Narendra Modi's government. In July 2016, he also took on the role of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Communications Ministry.
Manoj Sinha is known for being a hard worker who prefers to stay out of the spotlight. He was considered one of the best-performing Members of Parliament in 1999. He is also known for using all his special funds (MPLAD Fund) to help people in his area. This shows his dedication to public service.
He is good at connecting with people, especially in rural areas. He is also known as a strong leader.
Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir
Manoj Sinha was chosen to be the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. This appointment was made by the President of India. It happened just one day after the previous Lieutenant Governor, G. C. Murmu, resigned.
On August 7, 2020, Manoj Sinha officially took his oath of office. He has been serving in this important role since then.
Personal Life
Manoj Sinha married Neelam Sinha on May 8, 1977. They have two children, a daughter and a son named Abhinav Sinha.
