This article lists the lieutenant governors of Ladakh. Ladakh is a special region in India called a Union Territory. It became a Union Territory on October 31, 2019.

A lieutenant governor is like a main leader for a Union Territory. The president of India chooses them directly. They represent the Central Government and help run the territory. Ladakh does not have its own law-making assembly, so the Central Government governs it through the lieutenant governor.

How Ladakh Became a Union Territory

In August 2019, the Indian Parliament passed a special law. This law was called the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019. It changed the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The law split it into two new Union Territories. These were Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. This change happened on October 31, 2019. The new law also created the job of Lieutenant Governor for Ladakh.

A Look at Ladakh's Governors

The very first lieutenant governor of Ladakh was Radha Krishna Mathur. He used to be a defence secretary and a chief information commissioner. He started his role on October 31, 2019.

Mr. Mathur served until he resigned in February 2023. After him, Brigadier B. D. Mishra became the new lieutenant governor. He had previously been the governor of Arunachal Pradesh. He took office on February 19, 2023.
