List of vice-admirals of Cornwall facts for kids
The Vice-Admiral of Cornwall was an important job in the historic county of Cornwall, England. This person was like a special officer for the sea, looking after things like ships, trade, and even catching pirates along the coast of Cornwall. It was a bit like being a local boss for the navy and sea laws.
This role was part of the Duchy of Cornwall, which is a special estate that belongs to the eldest son of the British monarch. Sometimes, the Vice-Admiral was also called the Lord High Admiral of Cornwall.
For a long time, between 1601 and 1715, the job was split into two parts: one for North Cornwall and one for South Cornwall. There were also Vice-Admirals specifically for the Isles of Scilly for a period.
