Liu Fuzhi (born March 1917 – died August 25, 2013) was an important politician in China. He held several big jobs during his career. These included leading China's top legal office, known as the Supreme People's Procuratorate. He also served as the Minister of Public Security and the Minister of Justice.

Liu Fuzhi's Early Life and Career

Liu Fuzhi was born in 1917 in Mei County, which is in Guangdong province, China.

In 1937, he went to a special school called Yan'an North Shaanxi Public School. The next year, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. This was a very important step in his life.

Liu Fuzhi worked closely with many famous leaders. He was a secretary for Zhu De, who was a commander in the Eighth Route Army. He also worked for Deng Xiaoping, another key leader. Liu Fuzhi held many different roles in the army's political departments. He helped manage important social affairs for the Communist Party.

Important Roles After 1949

After the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949, Liu Fuzhi continued his work. He became a director in the Ministry of Public Security. This ministry is in charge of keeping the country safe and maintaining order.

From 1964 to 1977, Liu Fuzhi faced a difficult time. He was unable to work for a period during the Cultural Revolution. This was a challenging time in China's history.

After this period, he returned to public service. He became the Vice Minister of Culture. He also worked on legal matters for the National People's Congress. This is China's top law-making body.

Leading Justice and Security

Liu Fuzhi took on even more important roles. He became the Minister of the Ministry of Justice in 1982. This job meant he was in charge of the country's legal system.

From 1983 to 1985, he served as the Minister of Public Security. This was a very powerful position. He was also the first Political Commissar of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force. This force helps with public safety and security.

Finally, from 1988 to 1993, Liu Fuzhi became the Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate. This is like being the head prosecutor for the entire country. It is a very high legal position.

Liu Fuzhi was a member of the 12th and 13th Central Committees of the CCP. These committees are made up of the most important leaders in the Communist Party.

Later Life and Legacy

Liu Fuzhi passed away in August 2013. He was 96 years old. He is buried in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing. This cemetery is a special place where many important Chinese leaders and heroes are laid to rest.
