Ljusdal (say it "YOOS-dal") is a town in Sweden. It is the main town of Ljusdal Municipality in Gävleborg County. In 2010, about 6,230 people lived there.
The town is located next to the Ljusnan river. This river flows all the way from Bruksvallarna to the Gulf of Bothnia. Ljusdal is also on a main road called Riksväg 83.
Ljusdal is famous for a sport called bandy. It hosted the yearly Bandy World Cup from 1974 to 2008.
World Heritage Farmhouses
Ljusdal Municipality is home to three special farmhouses. These are part of the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland. In 2012, they became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means they are very important places that are protected for everyone to see.
