Llano's History
Puerto Rico used to be a territory of Spain. After the Spanish–American War, which ended in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This was part of a deal called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Because of this, Puerto Rico became an unincorporated territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government conducted a census to count the people in Puerto Rico. They found that Llano, combined with another barrio called Quebradas, had a total population of 977 people.
