Loch Leven Lakes in Placer County
The Loch Leven Lakes are a group of lakes in Placer County, California. There are three larger lakes and several smaller ones. You can find them on the "Cisco Grove" and "Soda Springs" USGS maps.
These lakes are a very popular spot for a day hike. The U.S. Forest Service says many people visit this trail. They also say the trail is "moderate" in difficulty.
The hiking trail starts near the Big Bend Visitor Center, which is close to Interstate 80. The trail goes up 1,070 feet (325 meters) over 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) to reach the first lake. If you keep going, Upper Loch Leven (also called High Loch Leven) is another 1.1 miles (1.7 kilometers) away.
