History of Lockwood
Lockwood was officially planned and marked out in 1881. It was named after J. E. Lockwood, who worked for the railroad. A post office has been open in Lockwood since 1881, helping people send and receive mail.

The average age of people in Lockwood was 43.9 years. About 23.6% of residents were under 18 years old. About 24.6% were 65 years or older. The city had slightly more females (52.5%) than males (47.5%).
Education in Lockwood
The Lockwood R-I School District is in charge of public education in Lockwood. The city also has a place to borrow books called the Lockwood Public Library.
