Lompnieu used to be a small town, or 'commune,' in eastern France. It was part of the Ain department. On January 1, 2019, Lompnieu joined with other towns to form a new, bigger commune called Valromey-sur-Séran.
Lompnieu is found in a place called La Val Romey. This name means 'The Roman Valley.' Long ago, the ancient Romans built small forts and settlements there.
Location and Climate
Lompnieu sits at the bottom of a big valley. On one side, you'll see thick forests climbing up the hills. On the other side, there's a flat area with even bigger mountains in the distance. If the sky is clear, you might even spot the snowy peaks of the Alps mountains!
The town is about 600 meters (around 2,000 feet) above sea level. Summers in Lompnieu can be quite warm, sometimes reaching temperatures around 30-35°C (85-95°F). Winters are pretty cold, and it often snows a lot.
