The movie was made with a budget of about 7 crores (which includes money spent on promoting it). It earned about 240 million, making it a success!

Plot

The story begins with Nikhil Chopra, a film director, being interviewed in New York. A reporter asks him why he chose a serious topic for his new movie. Nikhil says someone told him to always be true to himself. He explains that this movie shows a big truth about him. Then, he gets a message and quickly leaves to catch a taxi.

In the taxi, Nikhil remembers meeting Lalitha at the London airport in 2005. Lalitha missed her flight to New York. She accidentally bumps into Nikhil while getting her bags. They quickly become friends. They decide to explore London together because they both want to enjoy their first day of freedom.

During the day, they walk around London. They visit famous places, get wet in the rain, and talk about their dreams. By the end of the day, Nikhil and Lalitha feel very close. But Lalitha says she cannot have a relationship with someone far away. As they say goodbye, Nikhil buys a ticket. He tells Lalitha he will come to New York in six months to see her. She agrees, saying they should not write to each other. They plan to meet at the New York airport.

Two years later, Nikhil rushes to Paris. He found out Lalitha is there for a student exchange program. It turns out Nikhil could not go to New York as he promised. Lalitha is first upset with Nikhil for not showing up. But soon, she forgives him. They start exploring the streets of Paris together. They still feel a strong connection. They spend the evening together at Nikhil's hotel. Nikhil tells Lalitha that he is in love with her. They go to watch a film he made for his class. But Lalitha gets very emotional watching it.

We then learn that Lalitha had gone back to London earlier. She realized she was also in love with Nikhil. However, she found Nikhil with another actress from his film. This made her very sad. She decided she would get back at Nikhil if she ever had the chance. Realizing Nikhil loves her, she breaks his heart too. Then, she leaves for New York.

The film jumps back to the present day. Nikhil arrives outside Lalitha's house in New York. They go for a taxi ride in New York City. Lalitha tells him she is getting married to an American. She also says she is moving to Mumbai. Nikhil tries his best to win Lalitha's heart back. Lalitha also says sorry for hurting him before. They spend the night talking on the streets.

However, when morning comes, Lalitha rushes off for her wedding. This makes Nikhil heartbroken again. He thought he had won her back. He gets angry and tells her how she was wrong in their relationship. Lalitha leaves for her house. Nikhil first rushes to the church where Lalitha was getting married. Then he goes to her house. There, he learns that Lalitha had called off her wedding.

They meet again outside her house. This time, they decide to spend the rest of their lives together.

Making the Movie

"The story is very fresh. We have tried our level best to make it as realistic as possible. It deals in different emotions that people experience when they're in love. It is believable because it also talks about the pain and suffering of heartbreak."

-Producer Goldie Behl

Fox Star Studios and Rose Movies announced their new film, London, Paris, New York, on August 24, 2011. Goldie Behl, one of the producers, said they were excited to work with Fox Star Studios. He felt they understood how to make and share movies well.

Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios India, also shared his excitement. He said, "It's an amazing script that we are all very excited about. With comedies bringing people to theaters, this romantic comedy is the film to watch out for in 2012."

Anu Menon directed this film, making it her first feature movie. Producer Shrishti Arya said Anu's background from the London Film School helped her understand emotions in an international setting.

The movie's title is simple and tells a lot about the film. Ali Zafar explained, "The title is a key part of the film. It sets the scene for the love story and shows how the characters' journey of love unfolds."

Choosing the Actors

Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari were chosen to play the main romantic roles. This was announced when the movie production began. It was their first time acting together as a pair. Aditi Rao Hydari shared how she got the part. Ali Zafar, who was already part of the project, saw Anu's script. He remembered Aditi from an advertisement and thought she would be perfect. Aditi felt it all happened magically.

Mr. Singh added that they were happy to work with talented new actors like Ali Zafar (known from Tere Bin Laden) and Aditi Rao. He believed they would appeal to young people with this coming-of-age love story.

Filming Locations

"Last day of shoot for London, Paris, New York. Crew wraps up in NYC."

-Producer Goldie Behl

The movie was filmed in three famous and beautiful cities: London, Paris, and New York. Filming began in early August 2011.

While shooting at Heathrow airport in London, Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao had a funny experience. As the film crew set up, the actors decided to practice their lines. Some real travelers at the airport thought they needed help and tried to join in!

The film crew later had to change a shooting location outside London. This was because the filming was affecting local people. After finishing the London part, the cast and crew moved to Paris, known as the city of love. Finally, they went to New York for their last filming schedule.
